For four straight decades, Ford trucks have been the best-selling pickups in America. Whether you’re considering the Ford F-150 or the larger and more powerful Ford Super Duty series, there’s really no way to go wrong with a new Ford truck from your San Diego Ford dealership. This short guide from Kearny Pearson Ford will make your decision a bit easier.
2017 Ford F-150
The Ford F-Series has been around since 1948, and the Ford F-150 has been around for 41 of those nearly 70 years. Clearly, that’s given the Ford Motor Company plenty of time to get it right, and they haven’t been resting on their laurels. There are several cab and box configurations, five engine choices, seven trim levels (including the new Ford F-150 Raptor), plus multiple trim and color options. In short, if you can’t customize a Ford F-150 to your liking, you’re just too darn picky.
Extensive use of high-strength aluminum keeps these trucks light and fuel efficient without sacrificing durability or job readiness. The availability of Sync and MyTouch, plus a host of innovative safety features, keeps them at the head of the pack. These are “lighter” than the Super Duty series, but they’re no lightweights!.
Ford Super Duty Series
Like the Ford F-150, the Ford Super Duty series — consisting of the Ford F-250, Ford F-350, and Ford F-450 — are all about the choices they afford to drivers. As the name suggests, however, these trucks pack even more of a punch for the times when you need a bit more than what even the Ford F-150 offers.
As with their little brother, these trucks offer 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains. You can choose among three cab and box configurations, and you’ll have multiple options here for customization as well.
Both available engines are great choices; there’s a Flex Fuel capable 6.2L 385 hp V8 gas engine, or — if you need a ridiculous amount of torque — a turbocharged Power Stroke diesel engine that displaces 6.7 liters and puts out 440 horsepower backed by 860 lb.-ft. of torque. There’s plenty of power to handle a tow package, fifth wheel/gooseneck attachment, or plow package. What’s more, both the Ford F-350 and F-450 can be uplifted to handle a 40,400 GCWR.
We could sing the praises of new Ford trucks all day. They’re just that good. What’s music to our ears, however, is hearing our satisfied customers after a test drive, or many years of ownership.
