On the way to awarding the "just-right-sized" Ford Edge with an Editor's Choice, the staff at Car and Driver praised its style, practicality and ample space. Combine that with great powertrain options, oodles of useful technology, and top-notch active safety features, and it's clear that the Ford Motor Company has a winner on its hands. No wonder Kearny Pearson Ford is so happy to offer the 2017 Ford Edge to our customers from San Diego, CA and La Mesa, CA.
2017 Ford Edge Details
The 2017 Ford Edge comes in SE, SEL, Titanium, and Sport trims. Each has a six-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted manually. That transmission comes paired to one of three engines. The SE, SEL and Titanium each come with a turbocharged 245-hp 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that can be optioned out for a 280 horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine. A 315 horsepower/350 lb.-ft. torque twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine is the sole choice on the Sport trim.
Unlike many of its competitors, which are mid-sized in name but feel compact on the inside, the 2017 Ford Edge makes great use of its interior space. It starts with the fit and finish, which is above average for the class. More than that, there's room for everyone and everything. The passenger volume stops just short of 114 cubic feet, meaning you'll be able to seat five in comfort. Cargo volume is a respectable 39.2 cubic feet, expandable to 73.4 cubic feet with the second-row seats folded down.
2017 Ford Edge Safety and Special Features*
After a full-scale redesign in 2015, subsequent years have seen only modest changes. That's the case this year too. There are new exterior colors and mild changes to the Cold Weather option package. The only substantial change comes when you opt for the Sync 3 infotainment system, which is now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Of course, there's more. The 2017 Ford Edge has a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. Optional safety features* include adaptive cruise control, crash prevention, self-parking and lane keep assist. Other great tech features carry over from 2016, including options like adaptive steering, a 180-degree front-mounted camera, and SiriusXM radio.
