Here at Kearny Pearson Ford, we carry a large variety of both pre-owned and new Ford cars, and we specialize in getting Ford cars back into tip-top shape at our Ford service and parts centers. In the past few years, the Ford brand has focused on the future, creating a few different electric cars. If you’ve never had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of an electric car, you’ll be thrilled with the efficiency, power, and comfort that the electric cars in the Ford lineup provide.
2016 Ford Focus Electric
One of the most popular electric Ford cars is the 2016 Ford Focus Electric, which is an electric version of the popular five-door hatchback. Like all electric cars, the 2016 Ford Focus Electric takes zero gas, requires zero oil changes, and emits no carbon dioxide. You’ll also have the choice of charging options -- either a standard 120-volt/30-amp convenience charge cord or the available 240-volt/30-amp home charging station. On this car, you’ll also find the next-generation SmartGauge with EcoGuide, which is a cluster with configurable dual LCD displays and unique driving screens that provide real-time information. With this system, the driver can easily access the available navigation system, voice-activated technology, and unique EV screens.
2016 Ford C-Max Energi
Another electric Ford vehicle option is the 2016 Ford C-Max Energi, a five-door hatchback. This efficient car includes a hybrid gas/electric powertrain with a 2.0-liter l-4 Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric motor. Together, these options generate an impressive 188 combined horsepower. The 2016 Ford C-Max Energi also differentiates itself thanks to the Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start system. This is a push-button start system where you simply need to have your Intelligent Access key in your pocket or purse near the driver’s door. Then, touch the door handle to unlock the driver’s door or all the doors. Once you’re inside the car, to get going, all you need to do is press the brake pedal and then the Start button.
2017 Ford Fusion Energi
The third electric car in the Ford lineup is the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi. In contrast to the first two electric Ford cars, the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi is a spacious four-door sedan. Under the hood, you’ll find a 7.6 kWh lithium-ion battery and power-split hybrid architecture. This electric battery is paired with a 2.0-liter iVCT Atkinson-cycle l-4 engine. On the dashboard, the sedan features an EV button that allows you to switch vehicle operation among three modes: EV Now, Auto EV, and EV Later. The mode that you select will decide whether your car uses mostly plug-in, a combination of plug-in power and gasoline, or mostly gasoline.
Here at our San Diego, CA Ford dealership, we are thrilled that Ford engineers are taking such huge steps forward on electric cars. Whether you’re looking for a straightforward electric car or an electric-gasoline hybrid, there’s sure to be an electric car that fits your needs in the Ford lineup.
